Adjacent to Grand Canyon University Arena, the GCU Basketball Practice Facility offers GCU men's and women's basketball programs a state-of-the-art, conveniently-located home.
The main floor of the GCU Basketball Practice Facility has one main regulation-sized court with two side practice courts.
The entrance of the facility is home to the Colangelo museum which will be full of artifacts from Phoenix sports icon Jerry Colangelo, who has strong ties to the university.
On the second level, the facility houses over 10 individual offices for both men's and women's basketball coaching and support staffs. The offices of both head coaches overlook the practice facility with sliding glass doors leading to a balcony that overlooks the court below. All offices in the facility have windows that overlook either the practice floor or the main lobby.
Back on the main floor, both programs have a team room and player's lounge right off the practice facility court.
Capping off the new facility, the complex features team meeting space and a film room, also right off of the practice facility court.
The facility opened for both programs at the conclusion of the 2016 - 17 basketball season.
Antelope Gymnasium opened in 1994 and hosts all of Grand Canyon
University’s NCAA contests in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, wrestling and dozens of amateur tournaments, concerts and other year-round events.
The on-campus facility is a school color-coordinated purple and black 2,000-seat capacity venue, and it is a part of a larger facility that encompasses the old Antelope Gymnasium. The Antelopes have been fortunate to display their share of banners in Antelope Gymnasium, remembering national- and league-championship seasons
A hub for activities by students, athletes, faculty and staff, the Lopes Performance Center is integral to the success of every team and individual associated with GCU's varsity athletics program. Centrally located on campus, it is open year-round and houses the Performance Athletics and Sports Medicine facilities, along with practice facilities for men's and women's basketball and wrestling.
Since opening in October of 2010, the performance center is home to the year-round training regimen that each team endures while pursuing Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and national titles. The 55,000-square-foot facility houses the primary strength and conditioning facility on campus, including more than $500,000 worth of state-of-the-art equipment. Creating a multipurpose performance facility, there is a 50-yard sports turf area with a 30-yard Mondo track to help facilitate agility, speed and core drills.
Along with strength and conditioning areas open to all student-athletes, there are three basketball courts, including one dedicated as a practice facility for the men's and women's varsity basketball teams, and a large wrestling practice room. The Sanctuary is a multipurpose room used to provide student-athletes with yoga, pilates and spin classes, while teams have a multimedia room at their disposal to review games.
